HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
A shooting in Huntsville left one woman dead and one man severely wounded.
Police responded to the parking lot of the Red Lobster on University Drive where they received calls of a shooting victim. Police said when they arrived on the scene, they found a deceased 20-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man with several gunshot wounds.
The woman has been identified as Isis Keturah Pitts of St. Louis. The injured man has been identified at Deandre Goodlet of Huntsville.
Officials said the victims were possible students from out of town.
The victim told police the shooting took place near the Benchwarmer Club. One of the victims drove them to the Red Lobster to wait for emergency crews.
Goodlet was taken to Huntsville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police then got a call about a silver Chevrolet Impala that crashed into a light pole on Hillview Drive, just a few blocks west of the shooting. A witness said he saw a car following the wrecked car stop and pick up the driver.
Police believe the suspects involved in the shooting may have been traveling in the silver Chevrolet Impala.
Police are still searching for the shooters.
Meanwhile, surrounding businesses said crimes like this are not new in their neighborhood.
They said crime happens on a regular basis along that portion of University Drive, between Pulaski Pike and Jordan Lane.
Jennifer Harris, an employee at North American Title Loans, said she's worried about her safety.
Surveillance cameras are positioned at every corner of her office for security.
"It was scary because there are only two of us, both females. So obviously it scares you because the minute you walk out that door, you never knew who's going to be around this side or that side. It makes you want to carry a gun for safety," Harris said.
