This morning at 8 a.m., the University of Alabama's Rose Towers dormitory was imploded with 400 pounds of explosives.

The 13-story building, built in 1969, was demolished in order to make room for the second phase of Presidential Village, a new residence hall, to be built nearby.

Spectators were allowed to watch the implosion from a safe distance.
