MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
A Marshall county man wants a judge to reduce his prison sentence.
Joseph Hethcox was originally sentenced in 1993 to life without parole for burglarizing a home and allegedly shooting the homeowner.
Hethcox was sentenced under Alabama's Three Strikes Law.
Since then, new laws have been passed allowing for a reduced sentence if the acts are non-violent.
Hethcox's attorney argued in court that it was a non-violent act since there was a hung jury for the charge relating to the shooting.
The ruling for a reduced sentence has not been determined.
