MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
Officials with the Madison County water department are asking their 28,000 water customers to limit outside water use and have implemented a mandatory water reduction.
The department is taking steps to continue supplying water to customers, but they said conservation measures must continue.
Customers in higher elevations may experience low pressure, making it important for customers to conserve.
Even numbered address customers should only use outside water on Monday and Wednesday, odd house numbered on Tuesday and Thursday. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, no outside water should be used.
This schedule remains in effect because of extreme temperatures, consumer demand, and lack of rain. Officials said conservation measures must continue indefinitely until Madison County receives several days of good rain to restore ground water.
Violations of the water conservation levels will be punished by fines, flow reductions and/or disconnection of service.
