JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -
The Jefferson County Coroner's office confirms that a body found today in Mulga is that of a missing elderly Tennessee man named James Cuthbertson.
Cadaver dogs found Cuthbertson's body around 10 a.m. Friday, June 29, behind some piles of coal off of Atwood Ferry Road in the Lynn Port Coal, Inc. site. Birmingham and Morris police investigated the case and used Morris police dog cadavers to find the body. The coroner's office is waiting on lab results to determine the cause of death, but police say they dont suspect foul play.
Cuthbertson, 75, went missing from his Germantown, TN, home last Friday. His family said he left to go to Barnes and Noble in a nearby town, but they're not sure if he ever made it there. His
credit card was used at an Arby's in Jasper and a McDonald's in
Birmingham last Saturday. Cuthbertson's family said he had a medical history that required regular medication, which he didn't have with him.
