HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Several young business leaders from Africa visited Huntsville to learn about the economy.

The International Services Council of Alabama hosted the Innovation Summit and Mentoring Partnership for Young African Leaders.

More than 60 men and women were invited to visit the United States in nine different cities.

US officials hope to provide a hands-on experience in the American workplace and exposure to cultural aspects of American life.

Several of the participants were paired up with businesses throughout North Alabama to learn about the trade and investment opportunities.

"Intellectual capital that you have here in Alabama is pretty amazing and there's a lot that we can use back in Africa," said Simba Rashe Mhungu, Young African Leaders participant. "We've seen some new technologies, especially in the irrigation systems and in different strains in organic foods that we can use."

The group will be in Huntsville until Thursday and then head to Chicago.
