ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -
A trial was set for the Alabama State Trooper accused of
killing an Athens couple.
James Heath Moss is charged with two counts of criminally
negligent homicide.
Police said Moss was heading to an accident when he rear-ended
Sarah and Lee Gossett's vehicle on Lucas Ferry Road last April.
Their car was pushed into a field and caught
fire. They had been on their way to pick up their daughters at school
when the crash happened.
The lawyer who filed suit on behalf of the Gossett estate says Moss was driving faster than 120 mph just before the crash.
His trial is set for September 24.
