MADISON, AL (WAFF) -
A court date has been set for a Madison couple charged with Animal Cruelty.
Madison Police found 85 dogs in a home on Crestview Drive on June 14th. Some were dead, but dozens were still alive.
Police said the dogs were being kept in unhealthy living conditions. They responded to the house because of an odor complaint early that morning.
Authorities said 73-year-old James Lin and 71-year-old Patricia Lin were charged with 47 counts of animal cruelty.
They are set to appear in court July 13th.
Most of the dogs have already been adopted. Area veterinarians and animal rescue groups pitched in to save the sick dogs and puppies.
Neighbors on the street said they had no idea so many dogs were inside the home. Authorities said the house was extremely unsanitary and uninhabitable.
