HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Heat remains the big weather story in the Tennessee Valley Monday. After hitting the century mark over the weekend in spots, it's going to be right back up there again Monday.
Highs will top out in the upper 90s in the afternoon, with mostly sunny and dry conditions expected. A cold front will arrive this evening with little fanfare.
Temperatures will drop back into the upper 60s Monday night. There will be some slight cooling Tuesday, though it will remain hot, with highs around 90.
Temperatures will crank back up the rest of the week with little to no rain expected. Highs by Friday will be in the mid to upper 90s.
People working outside should remember to drink plenty of water or other non-alcoholic and non-caffeinated fluids, wear light weight and light colored clothing, and take frequent breaks in the shade.
Slow down, and try to avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, which is usually late afternoon. Also, check on the elderly, and make sure pets have plenty of water to drink and a shady place to cool off.
