Stars bounce back with win over Generals

With a three-run ninth inning that broke a 2-2 tie, the Huntsville Stars beat the Jackson Generals by a score of 5-2 on Sunday night at Pringles Park.

In the ninth, a two-run double by left fielder Lee Haydel and an RBI single by center fielder Josh Prince was the difference. On the pitching side, the Stars got another quality start from RHP Hiram Burgos, who gave up two runs on seven hits through seven innings while striking out eighth.

Reliever Darren Byrd improved to 2-2 on the season with the win after pitching a scoreless eighth and Jesus Sanchez notched his ninth save on the year.

The rubbermatch of a five-game series will begin early on Monday as the Stars will send RHP Jimmy Nelson (1-0, 5.40 ERA) to the mound to square off against RHP Tijuan Walker (4-3, 3.79 ERA). First pitch is at 12:05 PM.
