Habitat celebrates its 2,000th house built in Ala.

Habitat for Humanity is celebrating a milestone in Alabama - the completion of its 2000th home in the state.

The charity known for building homes for needy families dedicated the milestone home last week. WKRG-TV reports (http://bit.ly/L3kWxe ) the four-bedroom house on Roslyn Drive in Mobile was constructed for a family of 6 that once lived in camps in South Africa.

Art Pearce, executive director of the Alabama Association of Habitat for Humanity Affiliates, says reaching 2000 homes shows that a great spirit of volunteerism exists in the state.

Mobile city councilwoman Gina Gregory says Habitat's work not only helps families in need, but improves communities as well.
