MONTGOMERY, AL (WAFF) -
Alabama's Republican Party selected a candidate for the Madison County District Judge seat on Saturday.
The GOP selected 21-year law veteran Linda Coats to replace Chris Messervy on the ballot for this November's election; no democrat is running against her.
Messervy had originally won during the run-off election in the Spring, but was later removed from the ballot after failing to file a report before March 13, 2012, as required under the Fair Campaign Practices Act.
Saturday's committee selected from seven other candidates who submitted resumes for the position and spoke before the committee in Montgomery.
Linda Coats will be placed on the ballot for the November 6th election.
