CULLMAN, AL (WAFF) -
A special send off was held Friday for dozens of troops deploying to Afghanistan.
The ceremony started around 11 a.m. in Cullman for the Alabama National Guard's 167th Infantry Division.
Family members were given blue star flags to fly in honor of family members serving in war.
Guard members are expected to head to Afghanistan from their hometowns across Alabama. The troops will deploy to one of the toughest areas as Taliban militant attacks continue in Kabul.
At least 20 people have died recently after an attack near an upscale hotel.
