HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
The North Alabama Center for Educational Excellence was one of 43 programs across the country to receive a Talent Search grant.
The U.S. Department of Education announced $14.2 million in grants would be awarded. These five-year grants will help more than 32,000 people across the country gain the skills and knowledge they need to enroll in and complete secondary school and postsecondary education.
The NACEE received $466,413 which will benefit 1,016 people.
The Talent Search program is designed to benefit students facing challenges including students with disabilities, limited English proficiency, homelessness, children in and exiting foster care and at risk youth. The program provides tutoring and counseling services.
The program was one of two in the state to receive the grant.
