MORGAN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
A new set of inmates worked hard to better their education.
This first group of graduates at the Morgan County Jail received their GEDs.
A recognition ceremony was held Wednesday night.
The sheriff's department said this is about the ability to re-enter the community on a positive note.
"They're better prepared to interact with us as community persons, their family members, etc. So, that's where we are. We're just so thankful to have this program in our facility," Leon Bradley, warden at the Morgan County Jail.
The ceremony awarded 13 new GEDs.
Officials hope to continue this in the coming years.
