Wreck shuts down Savannah Highway


A wreck on Savannah Highway seriously injured one woman and shut down the road while crews cleared the scene.

A car and an 18 wheeler collided just before 10:30 a.m. on Highway 20, just north of Bevis Alignment, about half a mile from Cox Creek.

The driver of the truck, Chad Lambert, was uninjured; but the driver of the car, Jane Wood, was air lifted to the hospital. Her condition is unknown.

The road was shut down for at least an hour while crews worked the scene. State Troopers are investigating the accident.

Florence Police worked traffic. Oakland, Underwood and Central Fire Departments all responded to the crash.
