HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Huntsville Police believe alcohol may have been a factor in an accident between a motorcycle and an SUV on South Memorial Parkway Monday night.
Police said 26-year-old Aaron Bergmann was driving the motorcycle. 23-year-old Amanda Miller was riding on the back.
Police said they were speeding when the SUV pulled out of the Kangaroo gas station near Mountain Gap Road.
The motorcycle slammed into the SUV. Bergmann and Miller were thrown from the bike and slid about 200 feet on the asphalt.
HEMSI took both of them to Huntsville Hospital with serious injuries. They're expected to survive.
Police said Bergmann may have been drinking and tried to leave the scene of the accident. Officers caught him on English Drive.
Officers plan on charging Bergmann with assault and leaving the scene of an accident, which are both felonies.
Police said the driver of the SUV will not face charges.
