LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
Jack Daniel's parent company, Brown-Forman, will build a whiskey barrel plant at the Mallard Fox Industrial Park in Trinity.
Hiring for the 200 new jobs coming to the area could begin sometime between late summer of 2013 and the end of next year.
No actual date has been set, but they want to start turning out whiskey barrels by May, 2014.
The jobs reportedly will start at $16 an hour.
They want to break ground by early next year.
The Lawrence County Industrial Board has been instrumental in luring the business into town.
The board's executive director said that in these early stages the company has not set a time for hiring. In his experience, plants like this usually start the hiring process six-to-nine months before they open.
Six months ahead of that projected May opening would have them hiring by November of 2013.
"For the most part, it will be touch labor type jobs. There will be special training that will be offered by the state of Alabama with the AIDT, Alabama Industrial Development Training. I think that anyone who's willing to come in and concentrate and be willing to be trained can certainly be qualified for it," said Tony Stockton, Executive Director of the Lawrence County Industrial Development Board.
The company has not announced exactly when they will start hiring, but as soon as they do, we will bring that important information straight to you.
