MORGAN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A man acquitted in the slaying of a Decatur woman in 1999 faces prison after pleading guilty to an unrelated burglary charge in Morgan County.

Moore was on trial for breaking into a Wally World convenience store in Decatur.

Moore faces a prison term ranging from two to 20 years. He will be sentenced on August 28th.

Karen Tipton was found dead inside her home in Decatur in 1999. Moore was convicted and sentenced to death at his first trial in 2002, but the judge later threw out the verdict.

A second trial ended in a hung jury, and Moore finally was acquitted in 2009.

With the guilty plea, Moore will remain in the county jail until sentencing.
