Hammers fall in season finale

The Alabama Hammers rallied from a 20-point deficit Saturday night but saw that effort spoiled in a season-ending 75-70 loss to the Louisiana Swashbucklers at the Lake Charles Civic Center.

Hammer quarterback Arvell Nelson's pass to Mico McSwain on a third-and-goal play with less than 20 seconds left in regulation was intercepted by former Auburn linebacker Tray Blackmon to preserve the victory for the Swashbucklers.

Alabama finished the Professional Indoor Football League season at 3-9, while Louisiana improved to 6-6 and will move on to the playoffs.

Nelson threw for 332 yards and eight touchdowns during the loss andformer UNA standout McSwain had 10 receptions for 144 yards and five scores.
