FT. PAYNE, AL (WAFF) -
DeKalb
County officials are investigating a two-car accident in Ft. Payne that left
one person dead.
Officials
said that around 5:45 Friday evening, two cars collided on Desoto Parkway.
Investigators said a Nissan Pathfinder traveled into oncoming traffic and
struck a GMC Yukon.
The
driver of the Yukon, 42-year-old Michael Sydney, was air lifted to Chattanooga. Two
juveniles in the vehicle were treated at DeKalb Regional.
The
driver of the Pathfinder, a juvenile, was transported to DeKalb Regional. Her passenger,
38-year-old Kimberly Yancy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials
said Yancy was not wearing a seatbelt.
The
condition of the victims is not known at this time.
