Decatur shooting suspect in custody

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - The suspect in a Decatur shooting is in custody after nearly a week on the run.

Decatur Police said Ronnie Boyd Elliot Junior shot Comac Love in the shoulder, near his neck, during a fight in the yard at 1609 Chestnut St. Love was at a cookout after attending the funeral of his friend, Houston Glenn Blackwood, who was shot to death in the same area.

Love was flown to Huntsville Hospital to be treated for his injury and was released later that night.

Investigators searched for Elliot until he was located in Huntsville and arrested early Thursday morning.

He will be transferred to the Morgan County Jail and booked on a $2,500 bond. He was charged with second degree assault.
