HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
After working robberies almost daily in late May and early June, Huntsville Police have not responded to a business robbery in several days.
Police said it's due to them catching repeat offenders.
In May, it was common to hear that Huntsville Police responded to more than 35 convenience, retail, liquor, or fast food robberies in the last two months alone - 13 over a 14 day period in May.
But the trend came to a stop nearly two weeks ago when a clerk fought back and fatally shot Rodney Cordell Pride. Police said Pride was armed and intended to rob the store. They said he was also responsible for other robberies in the area.
Huntsville Police have connected Demario Battle and Lavontae Rice to at least 17 robberies. They are cooperating with investigators and will only be charged with five of those robberies, but they are also giving police information on who else helped them.
