OKLAHOMA CITY – The 2012 Easton Fastpitch All-American Teams were announced earlier, and the University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by a familiar trio as Mary Kelley, Cortney McNett and Stephanie Needham were selected.
The three made the Non-Division I All-America Team after each had stellar 2012 campaigns, and each also made the NFCA All-America Teams.
Leading the conference with 23 doubles, Kelley hit at a .394 clip and featured an on-base percentage that was nearly 100 points higher at .493 as she drew 20 walks and was hit by a pitch 14 times on the season, and she finished second on the squad in both RBI and runs scored with 52 and 55, respectively.
McNett finished the season on quite a tear, raising her batting average over .400 to conclude the season at .404 while driving in 46 runs on the strength of 11 homers, and her slugging percentage of .712 was the second-best on the team behind Needham.
Needham paced the Gulf South Conference in multiple offensive categories including average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, RBI, and home runs. She paced the Chargers with an impressive .468 mark at the plate which ranked ninth in the country, and her 19 home runs tied for sixth in Division II.
Athletes selected to the Easton All-American teams are those who have had an outstanding season in the circle, and those who have shown Easton power and prowess at the plate. Easton Sports, Inc. congratulates each athlete and team on their success, and we thank them for their outstanding representation of the Easton brand.
