LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
Jury selection began Tuesday for the trial of a Limestone County woman charged with sex crimes against a child.
Suzanne Carol Bennison is charged with sexual torture against a child younger than 12-years-old. Authorities arrested her and Jessie Roger Montgomery in 2010.
Montgomery was charged with sexual abuse against a child under 12. He pleaded guilty public lewdness.
The Franklin County District Attorney's Office is trying the case because the some members of the Limestone County District Attorney's Office represented Bennison after a 2008 drug arrest while they were in private practice. Bennison pleaded guilty in that case to unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.
Jury selection is expected to continue Wednesday morning.
