GERALDINE, AL (WAFF) -
DeKalb County drug agents arrested the owner of a convenience store for Spice distribution.
Investigators said law enforcement officials received complaints from the community about minors buying synthetic marijuana from the Minit Mart at the intersection of Highway 227 and Highway 75 in Geraldine for several months.
DeKalb County Sheriff's deputies and Geraldine Police officers executed a warrant at the business Monday night around 7:45 p.m. The business was seized and the owner, Rajeshkumar D. Patel, was arrested on three counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.
Patel was booked into the DeKalb County Detention Center. His bond has not been set.
The community and law enforcement are on edge since more than 30 children and adults in DeKalb County have been hospitalized after using tainted Spice. Investigators have not said who is responsible for selling the substance to the victims.
