HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
This week is Armed Forces Week in Madison County.
The mayors of Huntsville and Madison joined with the county commission president to sign a proclamation Monday. They know how important the military is to the area's economy.
"Redstone Arsenal has about $60 billion worth of contracts that come through it year in and year out and about $12 billion of that stays local. That $12 billion which adds to our economy, which provides jobs, which provides for companies that provide support for Redstone Arsenal. So, across the board they have a huge economic impact. they are about six percent of the economic impact of the whole GDP of the state," said Tommy Battle, Mayor of Huntsville.
The concert was moved indoors to the VBC's south hall due to weather conditions.
