DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
An deputy-involved shooting in DeKalb County led to the death of one man Friday night.
It started around 5 p.m. outside of Henagar when a state trooper and a deputy attempted a routine traffic stop on a man seen driving a four-wheeler down County Road 117. Authorities said when they pulled him over, the man took off again.
The state trooper and deputy chased the man to County Road 667 where he then turned down the driveway of a home and behind their shed.
Sheriff Jimmy Harris said the man jumped off his four-wheeler and ran into a wooded area behind the house. After the trooper and deputy began chasing the man on foot, he suddenly turned around and pulled his gun on the two officers.
Authorities have not yet released the man's name, but said this is the same individual who led Ider Police on a car chase last year to the same wooded area. Sheriff Harris said he pulled his gun on those officers as well.
