HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
A woman and her boyfriend stole thousands of dollars worth of copper tubing from a Huntsville church early Friday morning, according to Huntsville Police.
Officers arrested and charged 34-year-old Amanda Fay Bell with copper theft.
Police said Bell and her boyfriend stole copper from the First Baptist Church on Governors Drive.
The church is expanding toward St. Clair avenue, behind the property. Police said the two went through the fence and took the copper tubing from the construction site.
Wildlife Conservation officers spotted the duo by the Tennessee River on Hobbs Road with the copper. They contacted Huntsville Police.
When officers arrived, they were able to take Bell into custody, but her boyfriend jumped in the water and got away.
Police are still looking for the man. Bell remains behind bars with no bond.
