Greer Named Academic All-America - WAFF-TV: News, Weather and Sports for Huntsville, AL

TOWSON, Md. -- University of North Alabama senior golfer Jake Greer has been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Men's At-Large Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Men's At-Large program includes the sports

of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water

polo and wrestling. There were only 15 student-athletes from Division II named to each of the three Academic All-America teams, making Greer one of just 45 total selections from thousands of players in those 11 sports.

Greer, a native of Birmingham, Ala., was named Second-Team Academic All-America with a 3.37 cumulative grade point average in Sports Management. During his four seasons at UNA, Greer was named All-Gulf South Conference four times, All-South Region three times and has twice been named honorable mention All-American. He is also a three-time Academic All-GSC selection.
