Huntsville City Schools set scholarship record

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The 2012 Huntsville City Schools graduating class set a new district record for scholarships.

The class received a total of more than $35.3 million. The class of 2010 held the previous record of $34.6 million.

The class of 2012 also set an athletic scholarship record of $6 million and a fine arts scholarship amount of $2 million.

Academic scholarships made up $24.6 million and governmental and military made up $2 million.

For the past six years, scholarships for Huntsville City School's district have average over $31 million a year.
