MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
LinkedIn users beware; scammers are trying
from all angles to obtain your personal information from the professional
networking site.
Wednesday, LinkedIn confirmed hackers had
obtained six million passwords, an unknown number of which were linked to
LinkedIn accounts. The company said they are investigating the incident.
Scammers are also targeting email inboxes
under the guise of LinkedIn. A new phishing email is circulating, from scammers
claiming to be from "The LinkedIn Team." They are asking users to
confirm their email accounts for their LinkedIn profiles. The link provided
does not take users to their profile page, but instead to an online pharmacy
that sells products like Viagra and Cialis.
The
same company perpetrated a similar scam in May claiming to be sent from
"the Facebook Team."
