HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A judge denied Safia Memon, Hammad Memon's mother, permission to leave the state. She's currently out on bond for a charge of hindering prosecution.

Dallas Police arrested Safia and Hammad Memon in Dallas this spring. Investigators said they were trying to get out of the country before Memon's murder trial.

In a motion filed Wednesday, Safia Memon's attorney asked the court to give Memon permission to attend her child's soccer tournament in North Carolina later this month. The motion stated that the prosecutor handling the case did not oppose the trip.

Hammad Memon's father is also charged with hindering prosecution.

Memon is charged with the February 2010 murder of Todd Brown. Brown was shot and killed during a class change at Discovery Middle School. That case is on hold until Memon's mental evaluation is complete.
