MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Firefighters worked through the night to put out a fire at a historic Madison County home.

The fire started around 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Ryland historic site, known as Dr. Jordan's homeplace, on Jordan Road.

New Market, Central and Moores Mill fire departments were all called in for backup.

Firefighters worked until midnight to put out hot spots.

No injuries were reported, but it's unclear if anyone was at home when the flames ignited.

It's not known how much damage the house sustained in the fire or if it can be restored.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
