MONTGOMERY, AL (AP) -
The Autism Society of Alabama is trying to
get enough people to sign up for a special license plate promoting awareness of
the disorder.
The society needs at least 1,000 people to
sign up for the tags to be printed.
The special plates cost $50, with $41.50 of
that to go to the society. The cost is tax deductible.
The money will go to the society for outreach
and community service programs. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
estimates that one in 88 children in the U.S. has autism.
