HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – University of Alabama in Huntsville head volleyball coach Laura Taube announced the signing of outside hitter Kendall Knisley to a National Letter of Intent for the 2012 season.
A 5-10 captain as a junior and senior, Knisley joins the Lady Chargers after being a four-year varsity member at Farragut High School in Knoxville, Tenn.
Knisley was named to the 2010 and 2011 All-District, All-Prep Xtra and All-KIL teams, while earning camp MVP honors at the Belmont University and Wofford College camps in the summer of 2011. As a junior, she earned District Co-Best Blocker honors and was named to the Region 2 All-Tournament Team.
Her team made two trips to the Tennessee State Tournament, finishing fifth during Knisley's freshman and senior seasons. Last year, her team set a school record for the most wins in school history. In addition, she was listed as a "Player to Watch" as a senior by the local newspaper.
Off the court, Knisley was a four-year member of the National Honor Society and was awarded the TSSAA Student-Athlete Award of Merit in 2010 and 2011 after completing high school with a 3.87 GPA. Knisley is the daughter of Dennis and Gayle Knisley.
