MADISON, AL (WAFF) -

Firefighters at the new Madison fire station held an open house Sunday.

Dozens made a visit to Fire Station Number 2 at the corner of Hughes Road and Thomas Drive.

Residents were able to tour inside the new building. Firefighters were on hand to answer questions about programs they provide for the community.

"We have a lot of programs as far as CPR, we have our safe house we take out to the community and we teach public education and we want let everyone know today that we do more than just run calls we do other things in the community," said Captain Ron Haraway.

The new $2.7 million building is the first fire station leader for energy and environmental design in the state.
