In game four of a five-game series between the two teams, the Huntsville Stars were silenced by the Tennessee Smokies by a score of 4-1 on Thursday night at Smokies Park. As a team, the Stars were held to just two hits, one of them coming on an RBI single by shortstop Tommy Manzella in the fifth inning.
The lack of offense wasted a strong outing from Huntsville starting pitcher Kyle Heckathorn, who gave up a run on just one hit in six innings of work. Stars RHP Darren Byrd was tabbed with the loss, falling to 0-2 on the year after giving up three runs (two earned) in an inning of relief.
With the teams splitting the last four games, the rubbermatch of five-game series will begin on Friday as the Stars will send RHP Hiram Burgos (1-1, 5.19 ERA) to square off against RHP Trey Mcnutt (2-3,2.67 ERA). First pitch is at 6:15 CST.
