In game two of a five-game series at Smokies Park, the Huntsville Stars were edged out by the Tennessee Smokies by a final score of 3-2.
Trailing by a score of 3-0 initially, the Stars scored a run in both the seventh and eighth inning to make it a one run game, but stranded four runners on base in their final two innings to end the game.
Huntsville starting pitcher Evan Anundsen fell to 3-2 on the year after giving up three runs (two earned) in five innings pitched. On offense, second basemen Scooter Gennett had three of the Stars six hits, increasing his own personal hit streak to 12 games.
Game three of a five-game series between the two teams will be played on Wednesday as the Stars will send their ace RHP Tyler Thornburg (6-0, 2.22 ERA) to the mound to square off against Smokies RHP Dallas Beeler (1-4, 3.93 ERA). First pitch is at 6:15 CT.
