The Huntsville Stars capped off a series where they won four-out-of-five game against the Birmingham Barons with a 12-4 victory on Saturday night at Joe Davis Stadium.
After a leadoff homerun by center fielder by Josh Prince in the first inning and then a two-run double by Tommy Manzella in the second, the Stars offense broke out for eight runs in the third inning.
Highlighting the frame was five consecutive singles to start everything off and then a bases-clearing triple by first Hunter Morris. On the pitching side, Stars starter Hiram Burgos earned his first Double-A win as he gave up four runs in six innings while striking out eight batters.
The 12 runs that Huntsville tacked on was the most they scored in a game this season. After an off day on Sunday, the Stars will travel to Kodak, Tennessee to open up a five-game series with the Tennessee Smokies. First pitch is at 6:15 CT.
