FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Vincent Ingram received a guilty verdict in the shooting death of a Lauderdale County man.

Ingram was charged with shooting and killing Harold Stanbeck in 2009. Florence police said Ingram and the victim got into an argument at a home in Florence on West Irvine Avenue near Locust Street. The site was the suspected location of illegal gambling, drugs and dog fighting.

Testimonies lasted through the week. One of the most significant being a fellow inmate that claimed Ingram admitted to the killing on multiple occasions.

The jury deliberated most of the day before handing down a guilty verdict around 3:20 p.m. Ingram avoided eye contact as the jury handed down the verdict.

Police officers were heavily present inside and out to keep the peace. The jury was escorted out first, followed by the victim's family who were very emotional over the verdict. Ingrim's family left last.

Both sides spoke out on the verdict.

"We were disappointed in the verdict," said defense attorney Melinda Austin. "We were disappointed that the state chose to rely upon the inconsistent statements and untruthful statements of various witnesses rather than submit the physical for scientific testing and it is concerning because I think it is that kind of investigative work that leads to wrongful convictions."

"We will seek a life sentence on him and then when we convict him of trafficking we will seek another life sentence," said Defense Attorney Chris Connolly. "So we hope to get him two consecutive life sentences and rid our community."

A sentencing date has been set for July 26.
