DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Governor Bentley joined Daikin Industries in Decatur Thursday afternoon to announce the expansion of one of their facilities. The expansion will provide 50 new jobs to North Alabamians.

"The thing that I think is such a great compliment though is when a plant expands. That's a compliment to the people of this area. It's a compliment to Alabama, and we're very excited to be here with Daikin to expand 50 more jobs," Governor Bentley said.

Governor Bentley said that Daikin has become part of the community in Decatur.

"It's an exciting time."

A representative of Daikin also said it is possible more jobs will be added in the future.

"As our business continues to be successful, we're going to continue to invest further in the community here," Forrest Keith, the community relations and affairs manager with Daikin, said.

Keith said the company is looking to further expand the facility in Decatur, hopefully adding more jobs along the way.

Daikin will be holding a festival Friday evening from 6:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Morgan County fairgrounds; it will be free to the public. Food, drinks and live entertainment will be provided, and door prizes will also be awarded. The grand prize winner will receive a family trip to Disney World.

Shuttle transportation will also be provided to those who park in the mall parking lot or the local high school parking lot; the shuttle is also free.
