HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
An unusual traffic stop sent police searching for a shooter.
An officer stopped a car on Sparkman Drive just before 2 a.m. Wednesday. The officer noticed the driver-side window was shattered and had blood on it. When he got closer, the officer saw the driver had been shot in the hand.
The driver told the officer a stranger shot him.
The driver said he was parked near Oakwood Drive and Pulaski Pike when a man approached him and asked for spare change.
The driver said no. Then the man pulled out a gun.
The driver tried to pull away quickly, but the man managed to shoot him in the left hand.
Paramedics responded to the traffic stop to take the victim to the hospital. He's expected to be fine.
