The Huntsville Stars snapped a three-game losing streak overall with a
6-3 victory over the Birmingham Barons in the series opener between the two teams at Joe Davis Stadium on Tuesday night. The Stars broke out offensively early, scoring all six runs in the first three innings. Leading the way was right fielder Kentrail Davis, who was
2-for-4 with an RBI double in the second and an RBI single in the third. For Huntsville, starting pitcher Josh Stintson improved to 5-2 on the season after giving up three runs and just four hits in 7.0 innings pitched. Also on the pitching side, releiver Brandon Kintzler pitched a scoreless eighth inning, and RHP Darren Byrd shut down the door in the ninth for his second save of the season.
Game two of a five-game series will begin on Wednesday as the Stars will send RHP Evan Anundsen (2-1, 2.89 ERA) to the mound to face off against Barons RHP Cameron Bayne (4-2, 4.78 ERA). First pitch is at
6:43 CT.
