MADISON, AL (WAFF) -
The
Madison City School board voted not to renew 25 teacher contracts.
Superintendent
Dee Fowler said that this was not unusual and it was actually less than
previous years. He cited multiple reasons for the non renewals including lack
of student activity for a particular subject and teachers not meeting
standards.
47
teachers have also been transferred to the new James Clemens High School.
The
school board is now looking to hire a new principal for James Clemens High
School after the resignation of Dr. John Green. Green took a job as
superintendent of the Jackson County School in Georgia.
Many
applicants have already applied for the principal position. The interview
committee will consist of James Clemens teachers, community members, the
director of secondary education and the superintendent.
