HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
West Mastin Lake Elementary in Huntsville will hold a dedication ceremony this weekend to change the name of their school.
On May 20, the school name will officially be changed to James I. Dawson Elementary School. Dawson served on the Huntsville City School Board for nearly two decades before passing away in 2009. The school name change will be in honor of his work and commitment to the schools he served.
The ceremony will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at 5308 Mastin Lake Road.
