GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The city of Guntersville has hired someone to watch over their farmer's market program after learning some vendors were selling fruits and vegetables that were not locally grown.

After forming a committee and a board, the city of Guntersville now has a farmer's market manager.

The mayor said the hiring came after some vendors claimed others were selling produce from other places.

He said the part time manager will oversee operations of the market and even inspect the farms to insure it's locally grown.
