HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Huntsville Police are currently using technology to give more transparency to the public.
It's resulted in more violent crime coverage than ever before, but they said it's also giving some people a bad perception of what the crime rate really is.
"We've had times when it spikes big, it goes down and it comes back up. Believe it or not, it's not as bad as it was four years ago," said Sgt. Mark Roberts with Huntsville PD.
Huntsville Police said the increased coverage of crimes has had a positive impact on crime fighting.
Technology used by Huntsville Police brings more crime coverage but a bad perception of the actual crime rate.
