WHITEVILLE, TN -

(WMC-TV) – The sister-in-law of Adam Mayes claims her sister, Adam's wife, does not have the mental capacity to make decisions about what she should or should not do.

Mayes' wife, Teresa, is charged with two counts of first degree murder and two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping after the disappearance of a Tennessee mother and her three daughters.

The bodies of the mother, Jo Ann Bain, and her 14-year-old daughter, Adrienne, were found in the backyard of Adam and Teresa Mayes' Alpine, Mississippi, home.

During an interview with investigators, Teresa admitted that she watched her husband kill the mother and daughter in a garage in Whiteville, TN.

She also said she drove the car that brought the bodies, and two other young girls, across state lines to Union County, where the couple lived.

Bobbi Booth told Action News 5 by phone that her sister took special education classes in high school and is easily manipulated by her husband, Adam.

"She always has been that way with Adam. Anything he tells her to do she does. That's why she hasn't spoken to me in 11 years because Adam told her not to," Booth explained.

Bobbi Booth said she did communicate with her sister anyway.

After the family disappeared, Teresa told her sister that she saw Adam dig the shallow grave behind their home. That is the same information she also told investigators.

Bobbi Booth revealed to Action News 5 that Mayes was abusive to her sister. She also said he had a fascination with one of the Bain girls.

Janice Broach will have more on what Bobbi Booth told her about Mayes' relationship with the Bain girls, on Action News 5 at 10 p.m.
