FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -
Florence police arrested a man after he was found siphoning gas out of church vehicles.
Officials said they responded to a suspicious vehicle in the
Cross Point Church of Christ parking lot late Monday night.
When officers tried to pull him over, the offender fled the
scene and led police on a short pursuit.
He was eventually stopped and detained. When police looked in the car they found three gas cans and
tubes used for siphoning. When officers returned to the church they found one
of the vehicle's gas cap was open and footprints in the grass near other
vehicles.
Jerry Rhodes was arrested and charged with breaking and
entering, theft of property and attempting to elude officers.
